SZ trade council strengthens local firms’ global presence

THE China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shenzhen Municipal Committee (CCPIT Shenzhen) strengthened the presence of local enterprises overseas through its 10 trade liaison offices in India, Ghana, Nigeria, Tanzania, Egypt, Kenya, Thailand, Mexico, Belarus and Dubai in 2022.
The year of 2022 marked the 70th anniversary of the founding of CCPIT. To implement the spirit of the speech of Xi Jinping at the 70th anniversary of the CCPIT and the Global Trade and Investment Promotion Summit, CCPIT Shenzhen extended and strengthened the role of its liaison offices to safeguard local enterprises overseas operation, intensifies service network, and enlarge the international friend circles.
At the end of 2021, CCPIT Shenzhen built Shenzhen Products Display and Transaction Center in Thailand based on its liaison office in the country. The center, that offers free display, logistics, warehouse and matching making services, facilitates Shenzhen enterprises to acquire orders from overseas.
Since its establishment, the center has organized matchmaking activities for Shenzhen-based enterprises like CSG Holding, Golden Vision, Zhongke Xunchi, Folksafe Technology, RunData and Streamax Technology with businesses in Thailand, and successfully helped bring about deals of nearly 40 million yuan (US$5.73 million).
CCPIT Shenzhen also held promotion conferences for intelligent photovoltaic equipment and digital energy of Huawei and TCT, which signed deals of 3 million yuan and letters of intent involving 10 million yuan.
CCPIT Shenzhen signed an MOU on Trade Cooperation with Department of Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, The Kingdom of Thailand, to expand products and service trade cooperation of two sides, especially in high-tech industry, cross-border e-commerce. The MOU (memorandum of understanding) is waiting for approval from the Thai side.
The CCPIT Shenzhen Liaison Office in Egypt organized Egypt New Capital Economics, Trade and Investments Opportunities Exchange Forum, which invited nearly 50 enterprises representatives from Egypt and China and law professionals to share business opportunities in 5G, public safety and infrastructure industries in the construction of Egyptian new administrative capital.
Collecting and providing business and trade clues were one of the tasks of the liaison offices. By October 2022, the liaison offices had updated 3,875 pieces of business and trade information, 120 pieces of bidding and tendering, and procurement information of the countries where the offices settle.
The offices completed 12 reports including the Research Report on the Impact of Russia and Ukraine Conflicts over Politics, Economy, Investments, Business Opportunities and Industrial Park in Belarus, the Investment Advantages and Risk Analysis for Chinese Investment in Thailand. The reports served as important references for enterprises in making investment decisions and expanding overseas markets.
Facing the hidden political risks and uncertainties of overseas markets, the International Department of CCPIT Shenzhen Committee formed three reports over the risks over the operation of Chinese enterprises in overseas markets and reported to related departments for reference and decision making to ensure safety of Shenzhen enterprises and their employees working overseas. The liaison offices also actively aided the Shenzhen enterprises overseas to solve problems in allocation of anti-pandemic materials and quarantines.
